MV Frida successfully completes 1,600-tonne tandem lift test
MV Frida has successfully completed a 1,600-tonne tandem lift test, demonstrating the full lifting capability of SAL’s new Orca Class under maximum load and outreach conditions.
Last week, MV Frida successfully completed a 1,600-tonne tandem lift test, confirming the full lifting capability of SAL’s new Orca Class vessel. During the test, both cranes lifted 800 tonnes each using water-filled test bags at maximum possible outreach on the starboard side.
The operation confirmed that the vessel meets all structural, stability and heeling requirements under peak load conditions. The vessel’s advanced anti-heeling system was used to safely counterbalance the load throughout the lift, while the integrated stability pontoon ensured high stability at low draft.
The successful test provides a clear technical validation of the Orca Class design and its performance characteristics under demanding operating conditions.
SAL would like to thank all teams involved for the safe and professional execution of the test.
