A second home away from home

Lasting and long-lived design that separates itself from what the industry “typically” does, setting a new benchmark for interior spaces on a heavy lift vessel.

Interior Design in co-operation with the MCOE

Interior Design in co-operation with the MCOE

We’ve crafted a distinctive interior concept that elevates the standard for commercial work vessels. Our design principles are anchored in three fundamental rules:

  1. Create a “home away from home.”
  2. Prioritize crew comfort to enhance well-being.
  3. Believe that high-quality living translates to high-quality work.

In collaboration with the Maritime Center of Excellence, we have taken these principles a step further. Discover what we mean by “a home away from home” on your exploration tour.

Bridge

The bridge is the most critical area onboard. From this command centre, the captain charts the course and navigates the vessel to its next destination. As a continuously manned 24/7 workspace – whether in port or at sea – the ambiance of the bridge is crucial. Our design emphasizes optimal lighting and comfort, integrated with the latest navigational technology, ensuring our sailors can confidently traverse distant shores and vast oceans.

Round Spotlights

These fixtures offer a refined, less industrial look. Paired with dark hues on ceilings and window frames, they ensure striking contrast and enhance the overall exclusivity of the space.

Control Panels

Our control panels feature dark colours to create a visually appealing work environment, especially during night hours, facilitating ease of use and reducing eye strain.

Indirect Lighting

Built into cabinets and stairways, our indirect lighting provides a comfortable work ambiance and enhances visibility for nighttime operations.

Office Areas

Our office spaces are designed with a sleek combination of white and dark blue, striking a perfect balance between practicality and elegance.

Corridor

Corridors and stairways, typically overlooked during the design phase, are integral design connectors between sections of the accommodation block in our approach. The decor is warm and neutral, featuring practical elements suited for high-traffic walkways subject to wear and tear. We maintain simplicity in basic elements while introducing vibrant design accents through images and statements on each floor, transforming every passage into a colourful journey.

Crew Cabins

The crew cabin is a crucial private space onboard – it’s where seafarers create their own sanctuary away from home. Despite size constraints, our primary goal was to cultivate a cozy, inviting atmosphere. We prioritized smart interior design to maximize space and ensure ample storage for personal items.

In the design process, we actively involved crew members, gathering their preferences on seating and table arrangements.

Their insights were invaluable, helping us understand daily needs and accommodating spaces for private conversations and social gatherings within the cabins.

The cabin interiors and furnishings feature warm, calming colours and materials that are both comforting and easy to maintain, ensuring a welcoming environment that feels like home.

Wet Cell

Our wet cabins have been meticulously designed with practicality, space, functionality, and cleanliness in mind. We’ve chosen durable materials that provide ample storage and feature surfaces that are easily cleanable. Additionally, our design approach incorporates a homely appeal, ensuring these spaces are not only efficient but also welcoming.

Engine Control
Room

The Engine Control Room (ECR), often overlooked in design, is a critical workspace where engineers monitor the heart of the ship – the main engine and auxiliary power equipment. Given the extensive hours spent in the ECR, it’s vital that this space combines comfort with practicality, making it as inviting as any other area onboard. Durability is key, as the room must withstand considerable wear and tear. The design of the ECR is shaped by its functional layout, location within the ship, and the inherent design of the machinery and control panels. However, with input from experienced crew members, adjustments have been made to ensure an optimal balance between form and function.

Captains Room
& Office

The captain’s room serves a dual purpose: it is both the master’s private accommodation and a state room for meetings with internal and external parties. It is essential that the design reflects this dual functionality, combining a homely comfort for private living and the formality needed for hosting guests. The materials used are warm and calming, designed for ease of maintenance and cleanliness.

Mess Room

Wheel House
Second only to the crew cabins in importance, the mess room is a central space for crew members onboard. It’s where they gather to eat, relax, and celebrate together. Designed to mirror a high-quality restaurant, this space fosters conversations and communal dining experiences

The ambience is enhanced by indirect, RGB lighting that can change colours to suit various occasions, like Christmas or other special gatherings. The materials used are easily cleanable, and the layout maximizes spaciousness for optimal comfort.

Conference room

The conference room serves as a pivotal representative space onboard, where day-guests are welcomed and meetings are conducted before, during, and after work scopes. It is crucial that this room is spacious enough to accommodate multiple people comfortably, fostering an inviting atmosphere conducive to extended discussions and meetings. The design emulates the corporate elegance of a headquarters office boardroom, facilitating real-time discussions, brainstorming, and presentations. Durable materials ensure the room remains easily cleanable, accommodating meetings even in work attire.
